Legislative Yuan Judiciary Committee Passes Motion: Premier Cho Referred to Control Yuan for his Lawless Misconduct

Cho Jung-tai seems to be enjoying his role as the "Chief Executor of Lai’s Will" a little too much, conveniently forgetting that he is supposed to be the Premier of the Republic of China. Emboldened by President Lai Ching-te, Cho has flagrantly refused to countersign or implement the Fiscal Revenue and Expenditure Act passed by Legislative Yuan. This open defiance sets a grave and dangerous precedent in our constitutional history.
When the executive branch can arbitrarily block laws passed by Legislative Yuan—and even usurp judicial power by unilaterally declaring laws "unconstitutional"—the spirit of checks and balances is destroyed overnight. Taiwan is being dragged toward a total "Green Dictatorship."
To defend our constitutional democracy, the Legislature officially passed a motion today to:
-
Severely condemn President Lai and Premier Cho for their lawless actions that destroy constitutional order.
-
Demand they countersign and promulgate the law immediately, as mandated by the Constitution.
-
Request the Control Yuan to impeach Premier Cho for his gross dereliction of duty in refusing to countersign the Act!
Under the Constitution and the law, Cho has absolutely no room to refuse. Countersignature is not just a formality; it is an obligation and a power granted to the Premier to serve as a check on the President. Even the DPP Whip, Ker Chien-ming—who previously coordinated unprecedented recall campaigns for Lai—would not dare cross this constitutional red line. Faced with this disaster, Presidential Office Secretary-General Pan Men-an conveniently skipped his scheduled report to the Judiciary Committee today, likely to avoid accidentally telling the truth and contradicting his "boss."
Lai Ching-te is happily playing the role of "Dean of the Academy of Willfulness," completely betraying his duty as the greatest public servant of the people. Aside from inventing absurd political terms never heard of in history, he is now intensifying his efforts to illegally command the administrative system and wreck the constitution.
TPP Caucus Whip KC Huang has announced that the Taiwan People's Party Caucus will formally file a motion to impeach President Lai Ching-te in Legislative Yuan. We will summon President Lai to explain himself in accordance with the Law Governing the Legislative Yuan's Power—ironically, a law Lai himself helped pass when he was a legislator. There is no absurdity greater than a man violating the very laws he once legislated.
Democracy is not just about elections. Demonizing legislative oversight and branding all dissenting opinions as "opposition dictatorship" is the true face of authoritarianism. The real problem has never been legislative checks and balances; the problem is a "Giant Baby Government" that throws a tantrum whenever it doesn't get its candy.
"Mayor Lai," who once held the record for refusing to enter the city council for over 200 days, is now setting new records for "Contempt of the Constitution" as President. Will he soon invent new anti-democratic terms or claim the Law Governing the Legislature’s Power itself is unconstitutional?
The Taiwan People's Party will remain steadfast in defending democracy and guarding the bottom line of Taiwan’s constitution!
